We all decorate everyday, so I'm eager to hear what changes you've made.
House Flexible
Maybe it's because I was a military wife. Perhaps because I'm 1/16th American Indian (Osage). Or, just find change interesting. But rearranging to make room for long-term guests is not a problem. We waved goodby to Georgia (Jan-Aug) and hello to Brad, who will be with us now through December as he undergoes cancer treatments at the University of Texas Health Science Center. Rearranging furniture on our 2d floor gives Brad a sitting room, bedroom, and private bath. Brad, a Personal Trainer (with degrees in Fitness) and an RN is a fountain of fitness knowledge. Like so many other very fit people, he discovered that he has cancer. We and others from Northside Church of Christ in San Antonio have joined Brad's fight-cancer team. Cheer Brad (and us) on now through December when Brad's treatment program is scheduled to end.
Redoing 2d floor sitting room
Rearranged this space, moving sofa to opposite end of room and beneath long window. Now, the sofa will be great place for reading--with all that light coming over the shoulder.
Added bouquet of sunflowers
Sunflowers grow wild along the roadside and in fields (yes! there are fields within the city limits) in this remarkably rural-feeling big city. A friend gave me half a dozen and I placed them in a clear glass vase for my hall table. They are like a big gulp of sunshine!
New Centerpiece
My kitchen table needed a new centerpiece. Today I replaced the big metal bowl that has been there for several weeks with a large, very decorative blue-and-white Chinese bowl. Because the bowl is decorated on the inside with paintings of goldfish, it doesn't need flowers or greenery. It's fascinating all by itself.
DECORATING TODAY
RAISED A TOO-LOW mirror. Only 1-1/2 inch too low, but it bugged me every time I looked at it. Finally, today, I took 2 minutes to move the nail up and re-hang the mirror. At last--it's in the perfect place. And I'm a lot happier! Cost? 2 minutes of my time.
